Today’s post reviews and describes the 10 best coffees you should try at Sprouts. These ground coffees and whole bean coffees (in lots of different forms) are the best coffee products I’ve tried at Sprouts, and many of them make regular appearances on my pantry shelves.

1– Best Overall Coffee at Sprouts – Peace Coffee Tree Hugger Signature Blend
Peace Coffee’s Tree Hugger Signature Blend is a tribute to the company’s green focus.
Peace Coffee forms long-term partnerships with farmer cooperatives in Central America and works with them to improve working conditions. They deliver their coffee locally on bicycles. They donate coffee and services to good causes.
I love a company that wears its ethics on its sleeve like that.
But it doesn’t matter if the coffee sucks.
Luckily, Peace Coffee is some of my favorite coffee I’ve ever tasted, and you can get it at Sprouts right now.
This organic dark roast blend has soft acidity and a smooth body with notes of molasses, dark chocolate, and toasted walnut. The slightly smoky aroma and barely-there burnt caramel notes on the finish are a vestige of Peace Coffee’s ultra-dark roast. It’s a low-caffeine session coffee that smells so rich that you’ll want to keep it brewing all day long.
In my house, this is a weekend coffee. I prefer using a French press to help draw out all the flavors. No time for that during the rush of the typical weekday. Something about the caramelized sugar scent that lingers while it brews just screams “weekend” to me.
It’s my favorite Sprouts coffee in terms of quality and flavor, and it isn’t even that expensive. Right now, I can order a 5-pound bag for $75. That’s enough for 170 cups of coffee at around $0.44 per cup. Compare that to the cost of your daily Starbucks or Dunkin purchase.
2– Best Sprouts Brand Coffee – Sprouts Organic Sumatran Blend
Sprouts Organic Sumatran Blend is one of my everyday coffees.
It’s unique, so when I serve it to guests, they always comment on it. Sumatran coffee leaves a heady and heavy aroma for hours after brewing–this is a big plus for me. The caffeine content and roast are just right–medium to both, with some batches coming in slightly less caffeinated at a medium-to-dark roast.
Sumatran coffee is famous for its unconventional flavors and aromas. You’ll notice chocolate, sure, but also ripe fruit and clean moist earth. Some Sumatran drinkers rave about the tobacco-like finishing notes, while others list a produce department’s worth of tart fruits.
Sumatra’s unique coffee flavors come from the area’s traditional wet-hulling process. I don’t fully understand the technical details, but the result is a coffee with depth and complexity. This is why your Sumatran coffee can sometimes taste like fresh raisins or unripe apricots.
A good Sumatran, like the blend sold by Sprouts, brews with the bright aromas of a fresh-turned garden and a slight candy sweetness. Characteristic of the area, Sprout’s blend highlights dark chocolate on the flavor palate, with a slight spiced orange and lily finish.
If you don’t mind trying something a little exotic, go for Sprouts Organic Sumatran Blend Coffee. You can get it in-store for about $12 a pound. That’s about $0.35 per cup.
3– Best Organic Coffee at Sprouts – Solar Roast Organic Guatemala
The first time my wife brought home a bag of Solar Roast coffee, I thought, “Oh, great, another coffee gimmick.” Reader, I’m here to tell you that I was wrong.
I say Solar Roast Organic Guatemala is the best organic coffee at Sprouts because it tastes outstanding. The roast is like nothing you’ve ever come across, leaving behind a rich coffee flavor with an almost overpowering aroma as it brews.
Solar Roast is the only coffee company in the world roasting coffee beans with solar power. They go for a “slow and low” approach to roasting, which they say leaves more flavor in the beans than traditional roasting methods.
You’re going to pay a little for the privilege of having the world’s only coffee roasted entirely by the sun: about $14 a pound the last time I checked. That’s still only about $0.41 per cup, not bad compared to Starbucks or McDonald’s.
4– Best Non-GMO Coffee at Sprouts – Bare Organics Focus K-Cups
Bare Organics’ Focus K-Cups are my favorite Non-GMO coffee at Sprouts because they’re basically healthy smoothies disguised as a delicious morning brew. Containing ingredients like ashwagandha and ginkgo, the Focus blend is said to help you maintain concentration and attention.
I can’t speak to those benefits, but the coffee is top-notch. Certified non-GMO, organic, and fair trade, the people at Bare Organics pride themselves on their “no chemicals or harmful additives” mantra.
The coffee blend is mostly Guatemalan, and the flavor notes are all typical for that part of the world–chocolate, toffee, and a little damp earth.
Bare Organics Focus K-Cups aren’t cheap. They run about $1 each. But if you consider that you’re getting your daily dose of probiotics and other superfoods, the cost isn’t a big deal.
5– Best Flavored Coffee at Sprouts – Cameron’s Coffee Vanilla Hazelnut
We aren’t huge consumers of flavored coffees in this house, but I like to keep some around for guests. Vanilla hazelnut is a crowd-pleasing flavor, always a good choice for a default. The first time I grabbed this Cameron’s Coffee Vanilla Hazelnut off the shelf, I figured it would waste away at the back of my pantry forever.
That’s until we tasted it and realized the coffee underneath the flavor is of excellent quality. I looked into it. Cameron’s only uses 100% specialty-grade coffee, from among the top 10% of beans in the world. The beans are sustainably sourced. Very impressive.
I enjoyed a cup or two the last time my in-laws visited, and the depth of the coffee flavor and heady light-to-medium roast impressed me.
Cameron’s Coffee comes in a twelve-ounce bag that should make twelve full cups of coffee. At around $8 a bag, you’re getting a cup of top-notch gourmet flavored coffee for about $0.66.
6– Best Coffee Pods at Sprouts – Vitacup Perfect Coffee Organic Coffee Pods
What makes a coffee pod great? In my opinion–flavor, and convenience. I like a pod that brews a great cup of coffee without much work on my part. After all, that’s the purpose of the coffee pod phenomenon–speed.
Vitacup’s Perfect Coffee Organic Coffee Pods do everything right. The coffee is a smooth low-acid medium roast blend that prizes lightness and a clean finish over hardcore coffee flavors. The pods work great – and you can toss them right into your recycling bin. Who doesn’t love eco-friendly coffee?
The only thing that may hold you back is the price. At about $11 for a box of 10, you’re paying over a buck per cup. I’ll say this; if you don’t like the price, just wait a few days. I’ve seen this stuff on sale at my local Sprouts (and on the website) off and on for a couple of years.
7– Best Light Roast Coffee at Sprouts – Wicked Joe Organic Bella Maria
Wicked Joe Organic Bella Maria is a premium coffee that even dark roast lovers can appreciate.
A caveat–Wicked Joe Bella Maria is technically a light-to-medium roast coffee. That’s what it says on the label and in the product description when you order it.
I don’t think it’s all that medium. To my taste, this is a light roast coffee through and through.
I like my light roast blends sweet, fragrant, and with a light and almost luscious mouthfeel. This product has all that in spades. The beans are organic, fair trade, USDA Certified Organic, and roasted by state-of-the-art energy-efficient coffee roasters. Cool stuff.
This blend is truly global, with beans from Central America, Africa, and Southeast Asia. It’s blended for complexity, even with a light roast. I just had a cup this morning and took some notes for this post – there’s chocolate, of course, but also dark berries on the finish, and a bright citrus note running through the top throughout.
A great drip coffee in a light roast is a treasure. Sprouts has one-pound bags for $11.99 at the time of this post, but you can sometimes get them on sale for a dollar or two less. At the regular price, you’re paying about $0.35 per cup.
8– Best Medium Roast Coffee at Sprouts – Laird Organic Peruvian Medium Roast
Laird Organic Peruvian Medium Roast is more than just coffee. It contains mushroom extracts alongside certified organic premium coffee beans. The functional mushroom extracts are said to reduce stress by reducing the amount of stress hormones in the bloodstream.
I don’t care as much about the functional mushroom stuff as I do about the flavor, and Laird Organic tastes outstanding. When I’m in the mood for a medium roast, I turn to this stuff. It has a slight vanilla sweetness and a mild toasty finish that makes it a perfect fit for a medium roast. It’s a good breakfast coffee.
I swear, I don’t even notice the healthy part.
Plus, when I want to drink an extra cup or two, I can point out to my wife that I’m drinking it “for my health.”
Seriously, if you’re into the whole mushrooms as medicine thing, I say go for it. But I don’t drink it because it’s going to reduce my stress hormones or whatever.
To be honest, I think the delicious Peruvian medium roast coffee in the bag reduces my stress way more than any mushroom ever could. Something about preparing the drip coffee pot and watching as my brew unfurls into my cup lifts away my cares and concerns, if only for a minute.
As I’m typing this, Sprouts has Laird Organic available on sale for under $10 a pound. That’s less than $0.29 a cup. When it isn’t on sale, it costs a couple of bucks more per pound. I always buy a few bags at that lower price when it’s available.
9– Best Dark Roast Coffee at Sprouts – Groundwork Coffee Bitches Brew
Bitches Brew by Groundwork is named after the seminal jazz album by Miles Davis. Groundwork describes the coffee as “an ode to the legendary Miles Davis album” right on their website. It’s a unique blend of beans roasted nearly French dark. Bitches Brew is smoky, with dark chocolate and burnt caramel notes.
This is Groundworks’ number-one seller. It’s also a big seller at Sprouts. My local market has trouble keeping it on the shelves.
In our house, Bitches Brew is an after-dinner coffee. That’s mostly down to its low caffeine content, but I think the flavors here pair better with dessert and drinks.
Yes, Bitches Brew is by far the tastiest and most consistent dark roast on the shelves at Sprouts, but it isn’t super-fancy and won’t break your bankbook. At the time of this post, you can order Groundwork Coffee Organic Dark Roast whole bean coffee from Sprouts for $14.99 a pound. That’s just about $0.44 per cup.
10– Best Instant Coffee at Sprouts – Medaglia D’Oro Espresso
If you’re Italian, the sight of this beautiful little jar with a green lid and colorful label will bring you right back to your nonna’s house. It’s a staple food for Catholic families, especially those with recent connections to the old country.
But it doesn’t just have a great story–it’s excellent coffee. Medaglia D’Oro is instant, inexpensive, and still tastes totally amazing and consistent. That makes it a perfect fit for this list of the best Sprouts coffee products.
The notes are all traditional espresso, with maybe a slightly smoother finish. Some aromas and flavors are a little dull. That’s the problem with an instant product. But when you want convenience over perfect coffee flavor, it doesn’t get much cheaper (or more classic) than Medaglia D’Oro instant espresso.
I’ll admit that I don’t use this very often to make hot coffee. In fact, I’d go so far as to say that there are better Sprouts instant espresso coffees out there. But for making any number of trendy coffee drinks at home, you can’t beat Medaglia D’Oro.
This is an inexpensive way to add coffee flavor to anything. We use it to make tiramisu, whipped coffee, or dripped over ice for Japanese-style iced coffee.
Last time I checked, you can get a 2-ounce jar of Medaglia D’Oro Espresso for $5.99. That’s enough to make twelve cups at about $0.50 each.
Conclusion – Best Coffee at Sprouts
Sprouts Farmer’s Market has 381 locations in 23 US states, mostly in the south and southwest. In my home state of Texas, they operate 50 stores. Where I live, I can take my pick of several locations. The company is expanding into new markets even as I type this post.
Besides its stores, Sprouts makes its products available for both delivery and pickup. The delivery option may not be available depending on where you live. When you select the pickup option, you’ll enter your zip code, find your local store, select a time for pickup, and place your order.
